WE are facing a growing challenge of coping with the rapidly advancing would. Recruitment of wrong personnel is primarily responsible for this situation in Bangladesh where both the government as well as the private sector suffer because of their flawed recruitment practices.
In the developed countries, an applicant is chosen for his merit and talent. But, in Bangladesh, the opposite happens because of corruption and influence-peddling in the recruitment system. The system benefits only the corrupt officials.
It is high time for the stakeholders and policy makers to bring the needed change in the system to promote proper development in Bangladesh. Bangladesh needs most is, professionalism. Given professionalism, our public and private sectors can achieve miracles.
The government should take the issue seriously to bring the needed change in administration. The private sector also should go for the needed correction. Institutionalisation of monitoring and with proper checks and balance in place, the government could overcome the flaws in personnel recruitment.
